About

Flint Hill Fire Department is a private volunteer department serving a suburban area of 21 square miles in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Station 1 is staffed by 2-4 paid personnel during daytime hours Monday-Friday. All other staffing and home response is by volunteers. We are one of two departments that protect the unincorporated areas of Fort Mill Township outside of the Fort Mill city limits. Much of our district is residential, containing such neighborhoods as Bailiwyck, Carowoods, Beacon Knoll, The Reserve, Knights Bridge, Quail Ridge, Regent Park/Emerald Lakes, Foxwood, Waterstone, and many more. There are also over 400 commercial occupancies in our district, including Paramount's Carowinds Theme Park, many hotels and restaurants, Morningstar Ministries (at the site of the former Heritage USA), Black and Decker Southeast Distribution Center, Ross Clothing Southeast Distribution Center, Schaeffler Group/INA Bearing Corporation, Plaza Fiesta, and Wells Fargo Financial to name a few. We also protect some woodland areas including the Anne Springs Close Greenway. Our services are Fire, Hazardous Materials, and Search and Rescue; all EMS calls in our area are handled by the Fort Mill Rescue Squad and Piedmont EMS. In 2008 we responded to 667 fire calls. Our primary funding comes from York County and a special tax district for the Flint Hill area. The fire district is bordered in the north-west by Steele Creek, North Carolina, north by Charlotte, North Carolina, and east by Pineville, North Carolina. Our western and southern border is the center of Hwy 160 north to the North Carolina line, and south and east to Hwy 21 Bypass. For a map of the fire district boundaries, click here.
