Recruitment

We encourage any person interested in becoming a firefighter to learn more about Flint Hill. Volunteer firefighting is a great way to give back to your community, gain valuable life skills, do exciting and rewarding work, and become part of a family. The following information is for prospective members interested in joining.

Volunteering at Flint Hill

To volunteer at Flint Hill you must be at least 18 years of age and live within the boundaries of the fire district (the second requirement can be waived in some cases). New recruits must go through a probationary period and extensive basic firefighter training (NFPA Firefighter I, NIMS Incident Command, and their various prerequisites) before becoming full members. This training does require a significant investment of time but classes are flexible enough to fit around most people's schedules. Members are given pagers and expected to respond to calls when available. We also have driver positions available for those that wish to volunteer but do not want to enter burning buildings (additional training and requirements apply).

Getting Started

To begin the membership process, just come to our 7:00 meeting every Tuesday night* at station 1. There you will receive an application. Once the application has been approved, the membership process has officially started.
